Driver locked memory hyper-v

 · We suggest that you could use RAMMap for VM memory monitoring. There is one Count named "Driver Locked". It will be displayed if there is dynamic RAM once being assigned to VM. So, if your VM really asked for additional memory exceeding the assigned memory, the "Driver Locked" will show it.  · Driver Locked refers to memory that can't be written to the swap file and is "locked" to physical memory. Are you using Hyper-V and/or running virtual machines? Can you show the detailed RAM pages of task manager (under Performance) and the RAM usage by processes in RamMap?  · Hyper-V virtual machine memory is allocated on the host and Driver Locked to keep it in memory and prevent usage by other Windows processes. The SysInternals RamMap application displays Windows memory usage by usage type instead of by process. This image shows that 16GB of memory has been Driver Locked. What happens is that balloon driver (kernel device driver) tells the OS give me some memory, and that basically balloons driver consumes that memory, and then tells the Hypervisor hey, here is the memory block you can take this back:) We can’t directly look at that, but with the RAMMap tool from Sysinternals can show that the Driver Locked is consuming around GB, which is roughly the difference between 2GB startup and the amount that actually is allocated right now (MB + Memory buffer).
